Rain does not automatically undo the detail
A properly cleaned vehicle will still be cleaner after rain than it was beforehand. The main concern is what the water carries and what remains after it dries, including dust, road spray or mineral residue.
Avoid wiping a dirty wet car
If rain has mixed with dust or road grime, wiping the surface with a dry towel can drag contamination across the paint. Wait until the car can be rinsed and cleaned safely.
Deal with isolated water carefully
If the vehicle was parked and only has clean droplets, a suitable clean drying towel may help once the surface is free of grit. When in doubt, leave it alone rather than rubbing the paint.
Keep protection realistic
Spray sealants and coatings can make washing and drying easier, but they do not create a dirt-proof surface. Regular safe maintenance is still needed.
Watch high-contamination areas
Lower doors, the rear of the vehicle and areas behind the wheels collect more road film during wet driving. These areas deserve proper rinsing rather than a quick wipe.
